Social media is about reciprocation — mutual exchange. You follow me and I follow you.
Are there really any rules in social media? It’s really about social engagement, more or less. Why did you follow someone to begin with? What were your expectations? Is it the numbers you’re after?
Social media has become a very popular item in the past several years. It has a different meaning to different kinds of people. Some use it for pleasure, some use it for networking, while others use it for news and information.
Should we be so emotionally charged because of software on a computer? Isn’t a lot of what we do for recreational purposes anyhow?
Is a follow a stamp of approval, or an unfollow a stamp of disapproval? This decision is left up to you. I personally think that some users are making a great big deal out of nothing. A mountain out of a molehill (idiom + metaphor), if you will.
If we enjoy the taste of wine, we would rather share that experience with others that feel the same way. If we like the sound of music, we would like to share our expressions with others. If we adore photography, we hope that others will appreciate our efforts.
And if a fellow user proves to be eccentric or becomes stricken with Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), we sometimes don’t know how to react.
How do you respond when someone unfollows you? Do you need psychotherapy?
Hey baby, I hear the blues a-callin’,
Tossed salad and scrambled eggs
Oh My
Mercy!
And maybe I seem a bit confused,
Yeah maybe, but I got you pegged!
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!
But I don’t know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs.
They’re callin’ again.
Good night, Seattle, we love you.
