The progressive rock band Rush has stoked the fire once again with a new album — Clockwork Angels — and diehard fans are rushing to have a listen. Everybody got to elevate from the norm.
I personally felt attached to the track Carnies. This song has somewhat of an eery feel that is difficult to describe.
Probably the signature of the album will be Headlong Flight, as the band moves forward while reminiscing about former glory days and better times. Alex and Geddy shared their thoughts during a recent interview with PRI. Geddy was very optimistic about the current status of the group, and Alex agreed that the band should move forward indeed.
The majority of fans are just appreciating the return of the band and the moment itself. Fans will buy the CD and digest it in due time. Some have mentioned crying while listening to the music. This is loyalty, folks. Artists can only dream of this.
To be perfectly honest about it, from an artistic point of view, this album doesn’t come close to Moving Pictures or Signals. These two albums are essential and this is considered the peak of their career. Moving Pictures is unarguably a classic.
Maybe we shouldn’t make such demands, because it wouldn’t be fair to the band. But then again, how many bands reach this level of notoriety, and go on to record a best selling album in the United States, ascending to number 3 on the Billboard charts? Expectations are going to be high.
We should be grateful to the legendary rock band from Toronto and what it has contributed to society since 1974. The members are true artists in their own right — Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart. And since 1974, we’ve enjoyed the complexity, originality, and eclectic style of Rush. Mainstream success has in no way altered the music. The musical style of Rush has influenced many and the band’s reputation is phenomenal.
After each Rush album is released, fans sense that it may be the last one. Hopefully many more are to come.
