Here is my review on the: Roku 2 Streaming Media Player 2720XB (Certified Refurbished). I’ve owned it for well over 6 months. Matter of fact, I bought three of them, and they are all working properly.
The Roku 2 is probably the best option from Roku and was the perfect choice for me. What I like about the Roku box is that there is no subscription fee. Buy it, plug it in, and you’re there. The refurbished is cheaper and it operates very well. I would not recommend junk to anyone.
I would like to emphasize one thing. The user needs a high speed internet connection, preferably 3 megs or better. If you already have a quick broadband connection, then this is a great opportunity to gain access to some fantastic programming. If you have a slow connection, do not even try it.
Many Roku owners do subscribe to streaming media. For example, as soon as I connected my Roku box up, I instantly subscribed to Netflix. By the way, I do recommend Netflix also. The Roku and Netflix combo is a winning solution. Hint: no commercials.
The economic trend is very shaky at this moment, so many consumers are finding ways to cut costs in the household budget. Cutting the cable cord is one way to save money. Between Roku, Netflix, and receiving local broadcast television channels, you will achieve this goal.
You will save money, be more content, and stop paying for garbage channels that you don’t watch anyway. The commercials are never-ending!
TIME OWNED: More than 6 months
PROS: Easy to install, takes very little space, next to no maintenance, reliable, attractive, no cable bill
CONS: None really, but let’s get specific… The Roku box freezes (rarely), requires batteries in remote control and if low will cause the unit to not work
CONCLUSION
There are better programs on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime than cable or satellite dish. Roku is a fantastic means to make this possible. Personally, I have enjoyed it very much and intend on keeping my Roku box.
I also own Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player and this is another wonderful way to get the best out of your entertainment center. I recommend it as well.
