Dollar General To Start Selling Gas?

Dollar General (NYSE: DG) is testing fuel stations in the state of Alabama. Gas pumps are in place and it would sure be a novel idea if Dollar General starts to sell gas, now wouldn’t it?

In a press release the following was stated: “Dollar General continues to innovate to provide convenience and value for our customers,” said Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO. “This project to test a fuel offering is consistent with our strategy of continually looking for new and better ways to meet our customers’ needs for value and convenience and enhancing our position as America’s general store.”

Super Bacteria Are Resistant To Antibiotics

The Nightmare Bacteria That Could Be Difficult To Contain

Antibiotics are considered to be miracle drugs and have helped to make a healthier society. The problem we face now is the overuse of these drugs and this situation has led us to a very dangerous predicament. On top of this, Big pharma has cut research on super bacteria, mainly because of low financial returns. In the meantime, these super bacteria have infiltrated many hospitals in large cities across the United States and are becoming resistant to the antibiotics we have in use.

Make no mistake; this is a very real threat and is only going to get worse. Big pharma has decided in the last few years that this area of research is not profitable enough to continue. And to make matters worse, the federal government does not really have a cohesive plan should a catastrophe surface.

Frontline has an episode dedicated to the topic: Hunting the Nightmare Bacteria. This episode is an eyeopener and should be observed.

As the video reveals, a major group of gram-negative bacteria are relevant and stubborn. Stenotrophomonas and Klebsiella pneumoniae (KPC) are a couple of resistant strains.

NDM-1 is an enzyme that makes bacteria resistant to a broad range of antibiotics. It is hardy and very difficult to control. NDM-1 is now in the United States and is potentially very dangerous.

Outbreaks of super bacteria have occurred, causing the deaths of numerous patients.

WiFi Card Won’t Work Try This

The World’s Smallest WiFi Dongle. The Solution To A Bad WiFi Card.

It’s panic time again! Problems with another wireless device. My laptop isn’t working because the WiFi is out. Where is the easy button? The WiFi card won’t work. I’m ready to pull my hair out.

Here it is. The Edimax EW-7811Un 150 Mbps Wireless 11n Nano Size USB Adapter with EZmax Setup Wizard is in the mail baby!

No it isn’t perfect but it works. It’s small, cheap, and it offers a solution to the WiFi blackout. This gadget covers most of the Windows systems, most likely XP and above, and yes it does Window 8. The Edimax  plugs into the USB port and that’s all there is to it. Some claim that this device works with the Apple Mac.

Some have mentioned some minor problems with installation but nothing major. Just have a geek over for dinner.

Here is where this product would also be of use. You want to stream video. Let’s say watching movies wireless on your HDTV. You’ll need another gadget for this — Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player. This gets it done. Now you’re smart because you just made a SmartTV!

No sweat. Just do the Dongle…

Was talking to a very knowledgeable computer tech today and he recommended a computer anti-virus program. I wasn’t quite familiar with this software. It was called Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2013 3-Users.

The product features read: Protects you from viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans, phishing, botnets, rootkits, fake antivirus, and more.

The guy I talked to really liked this software and said he had been using it for some time.

HDTV Amplifier Review

After purchasing the 4 Port Cable TV/HDTV/Digital Amplifier Internet Modem Signal Booster Internet AMP and using it for a few weeks, I’ve decided to share the results.

I will reiterate what I stated in a previous post about what my needs were and what a signal booster is designed to do. I am on the fringe of reception. This means that I am 50+ miles from nearly all of the transmitting stations. I have to use extreme measures to receive the channels.

I use a homemade coat hanger antenna. It performs well obviously, since I am receiving stations ranging anywhere from 50 miles to 70 miles. I thought this was impossible in the beginning of my experiment. It is very possible, however, it requires an outdoor antenna at least 20 feet high in the air. And good aim is crucial.

The amplifier that I purchased, 4 Port Cable TV/HDTV/Digital Amplifier Internet Modem Signal Booster Internet AMP, is very useful for the tasks employed. What does it do?

Here’s where it comes in handy. If you have another television in the bedroom, then extra ports on this amplifier will support this. At first, I thought that this amplifier would only support only one television. After a bit of experimenting, I found out that the amplifier will support three televisions. It actually has four outlets.

The amp will pull in weak signals, however, this is not its primary job.

There is improvement with weak signals, but viewers need to understand that a good signal is desired in order for the amplifier to do a proper job. I know it sounds backwards to what it is designed to do. The amplifier will enhance the signal but do not expect miracles. If a better signal is needed, a high gain yagi may be necessary to achieve substantial gain.

Another experiment that I am happy to share about is hooking up this signal booster to my police scanner. I believe there was signal enhancement and I was happy about this. I built my own police scanner antenna and it performs like no other. So it had a decent signal already. The amplifier took some of the static and unwanted noise out of the equation.

Your mileage will vary. I ordered another amplifier, 4 Port Cable TV/HDTV/Digital Amplifier Internet Modem Signal Booster Internet AMP, so I must say the experience has been a positive one.

Like I said, don’t expect miracles and be sure to have a good antenna system on whatever electronics device you are using if possible. Well, at least the best option that is available.

The signal amplifier will maintain and slightly enhance the signal. It is also for long runs of coax. Yet it is worth the extra effort and is fun to play with. If one plans to add another television and a splitter is needed, then this is where this device comes in handy. In essence, you are buying an amplified splitter that improves the signal. And the closer you are to the transmitter the better the signal enhancement will be. Location, location, location.

Here is a tool that will analyze your location to determine which broadcast television signals are available in your area. It is a TV Signal Locator. This is a fantastic tool to work with. It even has FM reception!

In conclusion, this is a very good product and I would recommend it. Again, a good antenna with height is necessary, unless one lives fairly close to the station.

One final piece of advice. I have often overlooked one important fact myself. Make sure to use quality cable on the outside, hooked up to the antenna — Mediabridge Coaxial Digital Audio Video Cable – (50 Foot/Black) – Triple Shielded, F-Pin to F-Pin with Easy Grip Connector Caps. This makes all the difference in the reception.

Syria: Chemical Weapons Or Pipeline Politics?

It’s called the Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline.

Petroleum politics in Syria heats up the region.

The latest barrage of so called news is about chemical weapons in the country of Syria. The media have repeatedly showed pitiful images of women and children dying and Bashar al-Assad, President of Syria, is supposedly the monster in this case. But is the hype about chemical weapons or is it really about gas pipeline politics?

If a Google search is done using the phrase “Syria chemical weapons”, then we see the mainstream media trying to create a humanitarian cause using sympathy as a ploy. Is this the full scenario or just another agenda to use military force to gain momentum? Is there another side to this story?

Well, of course there is. There always is. One just never hears the other side. If we look into the geopolitics of the region and open our eyes up to the situation we see other factors into play here.

Geopolitics usually includes oil, gas, or other vital interests that the United States never wants to discuss. It is about energy resources once again, although you would never know it by turning on the evening news.

The project is called the Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline. Assad and team in Syria are not playing the right cards that the western nations would like them to play. It should be realized that Syria is a very strategic place for the development of energy flowing through the pipelines. These pipelines are pointed to Europe.

The players in this political struggle are Qatar, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and the U.S. China and India are affected as well. Natural gas is the future and lines in the sand are being drawn to protect this future.

The play for Syrian territory is critical and the stakes are very high. The Syrian Conflict is really about countries like Saudi Arabia willing to pay the United States full price to invade and dominate the region. This is not another humanitarian effort. It is clearly about full invasion and controlling the vital interests that are important to allies, and preventing access to the opposition.

While Congress is trying to sell this idea to the American people, they should understand the complete story and not just part of it. Wherever you find oil or energy, you’ll find the military industrial complex (MIC) marching in sync with the tune of the pipers. And those pipers are the American mainstream media. Follow the money.
