‘Terminate with extreme prejudice’

Using covert operation terminology, the phrase ‘terminate with extreme prejudice’ means to execute or assassinate the employee or said target. The term was explained by Terence Smith, a former reporter of The New York Times.

The reference is directed to the the Green Beret Affair, which is during the the Vietnam era from 1966 to 1970. Project GAMMA was the name of a (aka Detachment B-57 Company E, 5th Special Forces Group) special operations.

Intelligence had been compromised in Cambodia. Chu Van Thai Khac had allegedly met with North Vietnamese intelligence officers and supposedly there were pictures to prove it. An Ops officer and CIA headquarters decided that “elimination … might be the best course of action”. This was the option chosen, although the 5th Special Forces Group’s exec was against the killing.

The particular case involved the killing of Chu Van Thai Khac. “On June 20, 1969, three officers assigned to Project GAMMA drugged Chuyen, took him out on a boat into Nha Trang Bay, shot him twice in the head and dumped his body into the South China Sea.”

Eight soldiers were responsible for the murder and the case would go to trial, but the charges were dropped against the soldiers.

The 1969 article named “Details of Green Beret Case Are Reported in Saigon”, suggested that one either be isolated or ‘terminated with extreme prejudice’, a euphemism for execution.

The phrase plays upon another similar phrase ‘terminated without prejudice’, meaning the “fired employee may be rehired readily for the same or a similar job in the future,” which is usually true in the case of layoff.

If the employee is ‘terminated with prejudice’, it means an employer will not rehire the former employee to a similar job in the future. This is it for said employee.

Pink slips may include a set of check boxes where a supervisor can indicate ‘with prejudice’ or ‘without prejudice’.

The Ship That Would Cost $13 Billion

Austerity say ye? Not enough food for the poor, or lack of shelter for the homeless? No funding for crumbling infrastructure?

What about a warship that will cost taxpayers approximately $13 billion ($12.8 billion + $4.7 billion R&D) and possibly more? The warship is called the USS Gerald R. Ford and is planned to be commissioned in March of 2016. Construction is 93% complete on this ‘technological marvel’ as of September 2015.

The ship requires 25% fewer crew members, so there goes more jobs. But no problem though. The 19,000 workers will have the opportunity to build another one of the same kind by year 2020 if they’re lucky. Empire building isn’t cheap you know.

The Nimitz-class supercarriers are nuclear-powered. “As a result of the use of nuclear power, the ships are capable of operating for over 20 years without refueling.” There are two A1B nuclear reactors equipped for the USS Gerald R. Ford.

Good old Rummy promised a favor to President Ford a few weeks before his death in 2006.

The Ford Class: The Navy’s first aircraft carrier to be completely designed using a 3-dimensional product model, is the Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78).

Small Air Compressor To Clean Computer

After being frustrated with the overpriced little cans of compressed air, I decided that I needed something better to clean my computer. I just couldn’t see buying those little cans over and over, especially because they seemed inefficient to begin with. I thought about getting a small electric air compressor to blow the dust off. It has definitely paid off. Here’s the scoop.

After owning my small electric air compressor for several years now, it was worth the small investment. Here’s the brand that I wound up with: Campbell Hausfeld FP2028 1-Gallon Oil-Free Pancake Air Compressor with Accessory Kit.

Uses For Small Air Compressor

1. Cleaning the dust off computers, keyboards, monitors, etc.
2. Cleaning the dust off little speakers
3. Blowing the dust off of heaters
4. Pumping up deflated bicycle tires

PROS

1. No more overpriced cans of air. Save money.
2. Effectively cleans all computers with efficiency.
3. Cleans heaters like a charm.
4. Great for pumping up bicycle tires.
5. Small and light for easy packing and storage.
6. No gas equals no bad odor. An electric outlet is necessary.

CONS

1. This machine is very loud. Ear plugs are not necessary, but strongly recommended.
2. There are a lot of restarts, because the air pressure doesn’t hold 100% for long. It’s not an issue with me.
3. Lightweight. Might not be best suited for auto tires. I would recommend a bigger, more expensive air compressor for heavy usage.

ACCESSORY TIP

The little air chuck (for pumping tires) that I bought was not so good, because the stem kept sticking. Therefore, I bought a longer style chuck for around five dollars. No problem. Just as a friendly reminder, the longer style chuck that I acquired did have a female end on it.

CONCLUSION

I’ve owned this little electric compressor for several years now. It’s been most suitable for my needs. I use it for blowing the dust out of the computer fans and wherever necessary. The compressor sends out a gentle stream of air, so there’s no need to worry about too much pressure to break any computer parts.

Once or twice a year I’ll drag the light compressor out and clean the dust out of the computers, usually in the fall and winter. For the summer season, I use it to pump up bicycle tires.

As stated above, I would not recommend this little compressor for heavy car tire projects. For small projects such as computers, heaters, or maybe air brushing (haven’t tried it), this is a good option. This brand has been very reliable so far. It’s just a cheap, small, electric air compressor. That’s all it is.

Warning: This little electric air compressor is very noisy. It’s great if you want to disturb the neighbors or get rid of annoying, unwanted house guests!

Just Who Was The Nixon Deep Throat?

In February of 1960, a company called Società Generale Immobiliare [SCI] bought 10 acres of real estate from Washington Gas. Società Generale Immobiliare, partially owned (15% of shares) by the Vatican, paid $10 million for the 10 acres, and on October 21, 1960,  the development of the Watergate Complex was announced.

The Watergate building project was mired in controversy from the beginning. A group (Americans United for Separation of Church and State) opposed the project, obviously because the Vatican was a major investor. “By mid-November 1962, more than 2,000 protest letters had been sent to Congress and another 1,500 to the White House.” This could have been an omen.

Ironically, the approval of the complex was during the Kennedy administration.

It was around 2 am on June 17, 1972, when the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee was burglarized. The location was on the 6th floor of Watergate Hotel and Office Building, Suite 600 to be exact.

There was suspense surrounding the Deep Throat mystery and for the longest time it was to remain a mystery. In fact, Carl Bernstein’s ex-wife, Nora Ephron, was one of a handful who blew the lid on the case. Not many knew the answer.

Ben Bradlee, a colleague of Bernstein, was one of those few.

Bradlee was once married to Antoinette Meyer, a sister to Mary Pinchot Meyer, who was married to a key figure of Operation Mockingbird, Cord Meyer. In reality, it was organized by Cord Meyer and the infamous Allen Dulles.

“Operation Mockingbird was a secret campaign by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to influence media.”

Actually, it was the Watergate scandal that caused the Church Committee to open an investigation. The reason was this: The revelation of Christopher Pyle (Getting Away with Torture: Secret Government, War Crimes, and the Rule of Law) in January 1970, proved that the U.S. Army was spying on the civilians.

While in the Army in the 60′s as a captain of intelligence, Christopher Pyle learned that “Army intelligence had 1,500 plainclothes agents watching every demonstration of 20 people or more throughout the United States”. That’s a ratio of 75 to 1.

Taken from another author, award-winning Washington Post reporter Robert O’Harrow, Jr., you have No Place to Hide.

Upon reading Bernstein’s personal notes, Ephron guessed it was Mark Felt, way before the crowd knew that it was Felt. But then nobody believed her.

Heartburn, a 1986 comedy starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson, is bittersweet yet very amusing. The screenplay was written by Nora Ephron and was inspired by her second marriage, which involved Carl Bernstein and his affair with Margaret Jay, the daughter of former British Prime Minister James Callaghan.

To fans of the classic 1943 novel by Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead, you’ll like Ephron even more, because she read and appreciated the book. It is a long read…

And Carl Bernstein, The Washington Post journalist, was inclusive in a very important circle of friends during this time. Along with Bob Woodward, Bernstein did the majority of news reporting on the Watergate scandal. These scandals led to the downfall of President Richard Nixon. Some feel strongly that Nixon was a victim of a political plot to assassinate his character.

If you could think of someone who was among the insiders, it surely must have been Bernstein. After The Washington Post, he goes on to work for ABC News, and he writes several books, including the popular All the President’s Men, co-authored with Woodward.

Nevertheless, adding to all of the hoopla and immense success enjoyed by Bernstein, what I find to be most interesting is his research about the media. Carl Bernstein spent a year researching a 25,000-word piece that was published in the Rolling Stone magazine. The piece is quite an eye-opener to say the least. It certainly is a must read.

The Privatization Of College Student Loans In America

Elizabeth Warren Asks Why Government Is Loaning To Students At 20 Times The Rate That It Should

What has happened to our college education system in America? Why has the cost of a college education multiplied many times over within the last several decades? Has the government allowed the privatization of college student loans to occur, further expanding the wealth gap? Let’s explore. Shall we?

The SLM Corporation (aka Sallie Mae; originally Student Loan Marketing Association) is a publicly traded U.S. corporation that provides consumer banking [1]. Established in 1972, the former government institution has changed dramatically since its conception. In the era of common decency, it was a government entity that provided federal loans for students at reasonable rates.

In 1997, during the enterprising presidency of Bill Clinton, all of this changed for the worse, thus initiating the the new operation of privatizing. This process culminated at the end of 2004, with the termination of its federal charter, ending all formal ties to the government.

Just as deregulation had taken stride in the banking industry, “private” student loans became the new norm, and at one point a contract to service federal loans was employed. This was the beginning of privatization and the end of affordable education. Welcome to the New World Order.

“On April 30, 2014, Sallie Mae spun off its loan servicing operation and most of its loan portfolio into a separate, publicly traded entity called Navient Corporation.” Navient is partnered with the Department of Education as a collector of debt duo. What a cozy relationship, the merger of corporate and state.

“The Sallie Mae corporate headquarters is in Newark, Delaware. Sallie Mae also has offices in Newton, Massachusetts; Fishers, Indiana; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Reston, Virginia.”

US Senator Elizabeth Warren, a former professor of law at Harvard Law School, has been critical of Sallie Mae’s current role in the student loan process.

In June of 2013, Warren demanded that “Ed DeMarco, the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), justify why his government agency is supporting the super-high-interest rate private students loans that are drowning many Americans in debt.” [2]

Senator Warren has noted that Sallie Mae is receiving loans at less than 1% interest from Federal Home Loan Banks and then loaning to students at a rate of about 20 times that. In one year alone, the profits amounted to approximately 51 billion US dollars.

Sallie Mae has ended ties with government and business is booming. “Since 1995, the company’s stock price has gone up almost 2,000 percent.” [3] This was a 2006 figure. What will the price be for students and taxpayers?

There’s another issue to wrangle with, as Warren explains to the public. A government entity (Federal Home Loan Banks) that is designed to assist future prospective home owners, is inadvertently doing the opposite, hindering students from owning a home.
